During the summer of 2009, Mr. Lopez had discussions with a promoter from Utah who has brought life back to the ancient art of “Bare Kunckle Brawling.” The new organization, called “Bare Knuckle Brawlers,” is based in Utah and is the only such organization hosting pay-per-view, live fights on the Internet in High Defintion.

“The reason I really got involved is because I was thinking about it anyways. Shane called me and already had his plan in action and asked me if I wanted to become part of his team. We talked for a few days and it sounded like a great idea so I agreed. I made my name fighting, I have experience putting on fights and now I get to keep doing what I love to do, be part of the fight world.”

The no-holds barred, interactive fights allow the viewers to not ony match the fighters up, but to vote who wins, who loses and who draws.

The difference between this and other MMA matches is that there are no preferences for fight style and these fights will be broadcast live, world-wide for only $9.99.

Lopez Promotes Professional Boxing at Raley Field – August 8, 2008

In late June of 2008, Tony “The Tiger” Lopez announced at his press conference in Sacramento at the Double Tree Hotel that he is getting back into boxing; this time as a promoter.

Media coverage included all major outlets including regional Spanish newspapers.

Tony’s matchmaker, the famous Jimmy Montoya (ESPN Friday Night Fights), sent the two headliners, Cosme Rivera (Culiacan, MEX) and Bobby Joe Valdez (El Paso, TX) to Sacramento for the conference.

Tony “The Tiger Lopez” was raised in Sacramento where he started boxing at the age of 10. As an amateur, he fought more than 100 bouts losing less than 5. Lopez turned pro in 1983 fighting his first bout at The Memorial Auditorium.

As a pro, he compiled a record of 29-1 with 22 K.O.’s before his first world title bout fighting Rocky Lockridge for the IBF Jr. Lightweight belt. Lopez won a unanimous decision to become Northern California’s first world champion.

Lopez went on to defend his title three times, losing to Juan “John John” Molina, but in a “rubber-match” defeated “John John” Molina for the IBF title a second time in Reno, NV.

Lopez reclaimed his title a third time by beating Joey Gamache.
